Hours: Part-Time Position – 20 Hours per week maximum

General business hours: Monday – Friday (9am-5pm)
The New York City Department of Design and Construction (“DDC”) seeks a qualified part-time employee to fill the position as a receptionist. The Part-Tine Receptionist will be responsible for overseeing the entrance area shared by EEO and OCE. The selected candidate should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organization skills and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Specifically, The Receptionist Will Be Performing The Following Responsibilities
- Provide front desk coverage – checking in attendees to meetings, maintaining a presence at front entrance to offices. Screening visitors. Answering and routing phone calls. Sending routine emails. Maintain confidentiality by controlling access to the OCE and EEO area.
- Forward inquiries to appropriate OCE or EEO personnel.
- As needed, schedule meetings via outlook; make copies and assist with preparation of materials; assist with preparation of spread sheets or other tracking databases, as needed. Assist with “walk in” visits by staff. Schedule use of the shared conference area
- Act as liaison with Operations division regarding supplies, HVAC, and other office space needs.
- May participate in creating paper and/or electronic filing systems, and archiving files, as needed.
- Perform special projects and tasks, as requested.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
Preferred Skills
Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
