POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Property Technician is proper handling, packing of art objects, fragile and artistic material, antiques and high-end furniture, using the appropriate methods as a member of a truck crew. The Property Technician will also be responsible for documenting, labeling, condition reporting and problem solving while following company policies and best practices. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager in our Transport Department.

REPONSIBILITIES:

o Completion of Transport Daily schedule

o Deliver, Collect, Pack and Install artwork and high-end furniture at various locations, such as Galleries, Museums, Auction Houses and Private Clients.

o Work closely with clients to communicate best way of executing jobs

Monitor and maintain and complete the daily schedule as set forth by Dispatcher and Operations manager.
Handle, pack, crate, install and load/unload artwork, objects and antiques in accordance with Gander & White standards and practices.
Work closely with Departments and Account Holders, to ensure jobs are completed on time and jobs are completed as per the Account Holder’s instructions.
Accurately complete paperwork and ensure that each item, package, crate and items are labeled accurately and appropriately.

o Proper Storage and Documentation of items.

Generate accurate and descriptive condition reports and photo documentation when necessary.
Help to train new team members.
Communicate concerns, issues and/or problems with condition reports (condition of items), packing/crating, deliveries, collections etc. with management and account holders.
Maintain confidentiality of clients’ personal property and privacy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

2-4 years’ experience working as a porterty / art handler, warehouse technician or member of a truck crew in a gallery or shipping company environment.

o Ability to efficiently wrap/pack/install sensitive and valuable artworks and high-end furniture.

Team Player with ability to work well in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of and experience with a variety of gallery and museum handling, crating, and packing techniques.
Knowledge and experience with art installation techniques.

o Capacity to work comfortably in a customer facing environment (gallery/museum/corporate office/private residence).

o Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly; ability to work comfortably at heights on ladders & scaffolding.

o Creativity, flexibility, and good problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail; strong work ethic; positive attitude.
