Bark Frameworks, an employee-owned custom framing company in Long Island City that has been leading the industry since 1969, seeks a skilled technician for freelance work in our Art Preservation department (approx. 16 – 24 hours to start). This role includes general art preservation duties such as mat making, fitting, backing, art handling, and occasional help unloading supplies or help in other departments as needed.

Please note: This position works solely in our LIC location; this is not a remote work opportunity.

REQUIREMENTS:

Previous work experience in art preservation (art handling, wrapping, backing, fitting, mat making, hinging, or glazing) preferred
A thorough knowledge and practice of associated skills, specifically: measuring, cutting, labelling, checking (quality control), wrapping, paperwork
Knowledge of safe art handling and storage practices (industry standards).
Team player and excellent communicator
Attention to detail; ability to work to the absolute highest industry standards
Desire to learn; positive, enthusiastic attitude with a desire for long-term employment
Flexibility in assisting other departments as needed (training provided)
Must be able to lift 40 – 50 lbs (supplies)
