Position Description
The Department of Modern Languages (ML) at the University of Mississippi (UM) seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in Spanish Linguistics and multilingualism/bilingualism beginning in August 2025. ML houses a fast-growing Ph.D. program in Second Language Studies with tracks in Spanish and Applied Linguistics. The successful candidate will be expected to make significant contributions to undergraduate and graduate programs, establish a significant research record, and perform service to the department, university, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics or a related field by the time of appointment, demonstrated experience in teaching Spanish and Linguistics to American university students, clear potential in establishing a research agenda, and native or near-native proficiency in Spanish. Capable of teaching Spanish at all levels, including training in the teaching of heritage languages. Research specialization in either multiculturalism and multilingualism, or pedagogy/SLA.
