Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience writing content and developing marketing materials that align with the objectives of an organization. Two (2) years of full time administrative experience (related student work/internship will be considered).Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of full-time experience working in a communications, marketing or public relations capacity. (related student work/internship will be considered) Experience with brand management and overseeing consistent message delivery across all channels. Experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud or similar design suite. Experience working for higher education or a non-profit organization.Brief Description of Duties:
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will assist with marketing and communications strategies for the Graduate School in support of its mission to advance graduate and postdoctoral education and success. The individual in this role will assist the Director of Marketing and Communications with supporting graduate programs in marketing and recruitment efforts by providing web design, copy editing, content development, graphic design and other related marketing and communications tasks. It is imperative that the incumbent have a high level of energy and passion for higher education and the goals of graduate education. An understanding of the importance of consistent brand guide principles of Stony Brook in all materials will be critical when designing marketing materials for Graduate School events and academic graduate programs. Successful candidates must possess strong communication and project management skills to maintain organization and provide a positive customer service experience while working with stakeholders across campus.
Duties:
- Marketing and Communications:
- Assist with the Graduate Schools strategic marketing and communications plan by developing content promoting news and events related to students, postdocs, alumni, faculty, staff connected to graduate academic programs. This includes writing article content, designing printed and digital promotional materials, managing social media, developing and updating websites, and compiling success stories for a Graduate School Newsletter.
- Email Management: Write and design customized email communications for prospective students in collaboration with graduate programs to promote program details, admissions information and application deadlines.
- Maintain email content calendar and ensure campaigns are set up accurately within an electronic communications system, specifically Slate CRM.
- Website Management:
- Assist with managing and updating the Graduate School's website and related content within the content management system (CMS).
- Provide website support and recommendations to graduate programs through workshops and office hour consultations.
- Social Media Management:
- Create highlights of students, alumni, faculty and staff across degree programs for Graduate School and departmental websites and social media channels.
- Develop and oversee social media strategy and content calendar promoting Graduate School initiatives and track success of campaigns.
- Provide social media support and recommendations to graduate programs through workshops and office hour consultations.
- Administrative Liaison and Support:
- Develop cooperative relationships within the Stony Brook community (graduate students, postdocs, faculty, staff) to identify partnerships and collaborative opportunities that advance major news and accomplishments relevant to graduate and postdoctoral education.
- Participate in University-wide initiatives to enhance visibility and awareness of the Graduate School throughout the University and beyond.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment.
