Job Description Summaries:
Distribution System Dispatcher
Under direct observation of a Distribution System Operator or higher, the distribution systems dispatcher is responsible for the safe operation of the distribution system. Identifies and initiates corrective action under supervision as needed in a timely manner to optimize operating conditions including service restoration procedures.
Key Roles & Responsibilities

Notifies key supervisors of important events and corrective action taken.

Assist in ensuring the systems are operated within established company loading and safety guidelines.

Assist in the direction of distribution service restoration procedures to restore service in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.

Assist in monitoring load and initiates corrective action for load abnormalities on distribution facilities to ensure proper load flow and adequate voltage levels under direct supervision.

Assist in maintaining records of distribution system activities.

Assists in the preparation of work clearances on distribution lines and substation equipment to assure safety to employees and ensure consumers are not interrupted while minimizing impact on system security.

This position requires being available 24/7 for shift coverage and emergency situations.

Participates and completes assigned training activities.

Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Distribution System Operator
With minimal supervision, the distribution systems operator is responsible for the safe operation of the distribution system. Identifies and initiates corrective action as needed in a timely manner to optimize operating conditions including service restoration procedures.

Ensures the systems are operated within established company loading and safety guidelines.

Directs distribution service restoration activities to restore service in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.

Work Expectations (Distribution System Dispatcher, Operator & Operator Senior)

The position is in a diverse work group operating 24-hours a day through rotating shifts, regular scheduled Holidays, weekends and overtime.

The position requires overtime both on call-out and holdover during emergency conditions and shift coverage.

Work a regular full-time schedule.

Job Attributes:
Distribution System Dispatcher
-
High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required; AAS degree or greater in an electrically related field is preferred.
-
Distribution Operations and or Distribution field experience is preferred.
-
Must become knowledgeable of distribution facilities within the operating area.
-
Must gain a comprehensive understanding of operating and control procedures and of safety hazards associated with switching high voltage systems.
-
A knowledge of the operating characteristics of all switching and control devices is essential.
-
Must have or gain knowledge in Distribution Management System and SCADA control systems.
-
Must have or gain knowledge of Blackstart, Short Supply, Emergency Service Restoration, and System Emergency Operation Procedures and develop skills necessary to carry out these plans with short notice.

Possess strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise, and inclusive manner.

Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Experience with the use of Microsoft Office products.
Distribution Systems Operator

High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required; AAS degree or greater in an electrically related field is preferred.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in a power distribution role or other related experience; Distribution Operations and or Distribution field experience is preferred

CAPS or DLT certification is preferred.

Must become knowledgeable of distribution facilities within the operating area.

Must gain a comprehensive understanding of operating and control procedures and of safety hazards associated with switching high voltage systems.

A knowledge of the operating characteristics of all switching and control devices is essential.

Must have or gain knowledge in Distribution Management System and SCADA control systems.
