ABOUT THE POSITION This position is within Fluence’s Digital team focused on Fluence’s optimization and algorithm bidding software offering, Mosaic. We’ve built the most advanced deep neural network optimization and trading platform specifically designed to enable the real-time, optimized transaction of complex energy assets, including batteries, solar, and wind. We’ve earned our customers millions of dollars in market revenues and are growing quickly in the US market. Fluence Digital’s clients range from large established gentailers, to small new-entrant IPPs, and the energy assets using the Mosaic software have a diversity of configurations, capabilities, and commercial objectives. The Senior Business Development Manager must have a strong sales aptitude and a track record of sales performance - winning new customers and building a healthy sales pipeline with experience in selling Enterprise class SaaS solutions into the Renewable Energy sector. We are looking for a candidate that has experience with origination, structuring, negotiating, contract execution, and settlement, ideally in a power marketing, procurement, trading, or project finance role (ideally involving the ERCOT, CAISO, or MISO market).Must possess strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously as well as with multi-disciplinary teams spread over diverse geographic regions and time zones. This role requires customer interaction at multiple disciplines and levels, as well as coordination & interaction at multiple levels within Fluence Energy. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Responsible for new order booking for the Fluence Digital business in the North America region with primary focus on Mosaic, Fluence Digital’s optimization and algorithmic bidding software solutions. •Own relationships with key accounts active in region, including investor-owned utilities, retailers, and independent power producers, from initial contacts through ongoing utilization of our products. •Manage proposals and lead overall proposal activities for customers' Requests for Proposal. Lead internal teams in understanding the customer RFP requirements, the competition, and responsible and leading the sales strategy to close and win these opportunities. •Track customers’ readiness to engage Fluence Digital; maintain accurate records in Fluence Digital’s customer relationship management system •Work closely and collaboratively with Product Managers and Marketing to create and maintain sales collateral (e.g., presentations, proposals, sell sheets, training, RFP and other tender documents, etc.) that resonate with our customer and prospects. •Track maturation of Fluence Digital’s competitive environment to inform Fluence Digital positioning, product offering, and go-to-market strategies. •Summarize customer’s technical perspective to assist Sales, Marketing, Product and Technology to understand the voice of the customer, the users’ perspectives, and the problems they seek to solve. •This position will be home based in the United States and will report to the VP Fluence Digital - Americas. What does the ideal candidate bring to Fluence? - 7 or more years of work experience, with at least 3 years of experience in North American Energy Markets – ERCOT, CAISO, MISO preferred. - Experience with origination, structuring, negotiating, contract execution, and settlement, ideally in a power marketing, procurement, trading, or project finance role (ideally involving the ERCOT, CAISO, or MISO market), such as: - Experience with the management of physical positions in day-ahead and real-time markets - Experience developing trading strategies, managing risk thresholds - Experience with range of off-take structures, counterparties, technologies (e.g., solar, wind, energy storage) - Strong understanding of US Energy market rules and fundamentals - Experience working with retail electric providers, independent power producers, utilities, and traders - Sales/Business Development/Product Management experience with large enterprise customers in the renewable energy or technology industry - Experience and knowledge of North American Energy Markets, including trading in physical markets and bidding systems - Experience and knowledge of BESS capabilities and value streams - Owning sales targets, formulating go-to-market strategies, and identifying the resources required for success - Mapping accounts & profiling buyers within client organizations - Ensuring alignment with customer requirements and key purchasing criteria - Experience working with CRM systems to support clear communication, pipeline management, and scaling of sales achievement - Overseeing deal teams, including functional experts (e.g., engineering, legal) outside a reporting line - Ensuring proper and timely contract drafting, reviews, and approvals - Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially in client-facing contexts - must be highly comfortable working with people across several organizations. - Experience in pre-sales or sales role, working collaboratively with Sales Teams, understanding the full sales life cycle and processes is a plus. - Must be an independent, highly motivated self-starter, naturally pro-active with great sense of initiative. - BS/BA in an analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Business, or related field) preferred, or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.
