Under the direction of the Executive Vice President for Real Estate Development, the Data Analyst will play an important role in executing NYCHA’s ongoing efforts to recapitalize and rehabilitate its stock of public housing apartments. The Data Analyst’s quantitative work will be used to inform strategy and enable execution of key initiatives. The Data Analyst will make the department’s data more organized, accessible, and understandable, and will deliver the data in a useful and compelling way to technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
The Data Analyst will work on a team with technical knowledge related to real estate development, public housing, policy, architecture, planning, and urban design. The key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, organize, and analyze data, presenting results in a clear and compelling way, and making recommendations on policies and procedures.
- Build and implement analytical and quantitative work including internal monitoring and evaluating programs providing important community services.
- Prepare and present evaluation reports, dashboards, or perform analysis to NYCHA staff, including leadership, regarding program performance.
- Respond to data requests from a variety of departments and agencies or other stakeholders and provide authoritative interpretation of complex problems.
- Perform regular data reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.

Minimum Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and two years of satisfactory, full time experience in the following: management of residential, commercial, industrial, or waterfront properties, including both renting and operating; or site management; or tenant relocation activities in connection with housing or other reconstruction/rehabilitation projects; or
- A satisfactory combination of Education and/or Experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
Preferred Skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to query and analyze large datasets. - Proven experience with data visualization tools (i.e., PowerBi, Tableau). - Fluid understanding of and working ability with data management software, geographic information systems (GIS) (e.g., CARTO or ArcGIS / ESRI) , and relational database systems (SQL, Oracle Business Intelligence) or other data management, reporting and query tools. - Familiarity with Smartsheets. - Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple teams and job functions. - Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues and find resolutions in a fast-paced environment. - Creativity, curiosity, and attention to detail. - Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. - Demonstrated commitment to responsiveness balanced with an appreciation for when and how to seek additional guidance or clarification. - Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple complex workflows with an attention to detail that ensures effective communication and task management. - Familiarity with real estate, public administration, and other related fields. - Experience in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint).
