The Laborer will assist the construction Site Supervisor in the gutting, mold suppression, and repair work of homes affected by flooding due to Hurricane Helene. This is a physically demanding position that requires the use of power tools, hand tools, and other equipment, along with proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which will be provided. Training will be available, but candidates must be ready to engage in hard, physical work such as lifting, moving, and hauling heavier items. The work provided to the households will be free of charge. Spanish speaking is preferred. Responsibilities: - Assist the Site Supervisor in gutting, mold suppression, and repair activities in homes affected by flooding. - Operate power tools, hand tools, and other equipment safely and effectively, following the guidance of the Site Supervisor. - Wear and maintain proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout the workday, ensuring safety at all times. - Lift, move, and haul heavier items as part of the gutting and repair process. - Assist in cleaning and preparing homes for repair and recovery, ensuring spaces are ready for further construction work. - Work collaboratively with other laborers and team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely. - Perform other related tasks as directed by the Site Supervisor. Scope and Travel: - Reports to: Construction Site Supervisor - Travel: Travel within local areas of Western North Carolina may be required to reach different work sites. Qualifications: - 6 months of general work experience, ideally in a construction setting. Experience: - Experience in construction, gutting, or home repair work. - Familiarity with the challenges of mold suppression and flood recovery work. - Spanish-speaking (preferred). - Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with a positive attitude. Skills and Competencies: - Willingness to engage in hard physical labor, including lifting, moving, and hauling heavy items. - Ability to learn and safely operate power tools, hand tools, and equipment. - Commitment to following safety protocols and wearing proper PPE throughout all work activities. - Ability to follow directions from the Site Supervisor and work effectively as part of a team. In accordance with law, the expected pay range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
