The College of Performing Arts at The New School is seeking a highly qualified Manager of Performance & Event Communications. Reporting to the Director of Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives, the Manager is directly responsible for developing and distributing the marketing and communications assets for the approximately 800 public events per year, and executing multichannel marketing campaigns for priority events within that season. This includes ensuring the alignment of communications and messaging in all channels. Events are presented by the Mannes School of Music, the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and the School of Drama, including mainstage productions, operas, musicals, ensemble concerts and student recitals, and external performance partnerships. The Manager of Performance & Event Communications is a detail-oriented, responsible, and proactive individual who can handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, and is an excellent collaborator and communicator with an ability to manage complex programmatic processes and operations.

Formed in 2015, the College of Performing Arts draws together Mannes School of Music, the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and the School of Drama. The over 1,100 students at the College are actors, musicians, performers, writers, improvisers, creative technologists, entrepreneurs, composers, arts managers, and multidisciplinary artists. Students and faculty at the College collaborate with colleagues across The New School in a wide array of disciplines, from the visual arts and fashion design, to the social sciences, public policy, advocacy, and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce marketing assets from content procuration to design and distribution. This includes but is not limited to programs, posters, digital assets, season calendars, event listings on the university’s events registration platform, and the events newsletter.
- Act as a liaison between Mannes/Jazz/Drama departments and Event Comms to procure event information and performance schedules for use in marketing and communications.
- Create, edit and manage event registrations on the web-based event platform, Splash.
- Write and design newsletters.
- Edit and proofread programs.
- Format and digitize event and concert programs using digital program platform Flip.
- Correspond promptly and professionally with event organizers, including artists, faculty, students and staff.
- Collaborate with front of house staff to optimize guest experience and retention.
- Supervise streaming activities across multiple platforms, including liaising with event organizers on licensing/sync rights and collecting and managing image releases for participants.
- Hire, manage, and supervise hourly employees, freelance designers, photographers and creatives, and student workers.
- Attend and participate in meetings, committees, working groups, and training as assigned.
- Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous professional experience in events promotion or direct marketing.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to develop creative approaches to complex issues.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; can present complex information to various audiences.
- Interpersonal skills that include management, teamwork and collaboration, conflict resolution, and change leadership.
- Time, task and budget management skills, including re-prioritization and an ability to work graciously under strict time constraints.
- Rudimentary skill in InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, and/or other layout, design, and editing software.
- A keen eye and strong sensibility for graphic design, videography, and photography.
- Experienced or able to learn and develop fluency in The New School’s suite of applications including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, WorkDay, Tableau, Splash, Banner, and 25Live.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a higher education or performing arts environment.
- Advanced digital design experience.
WORK MODE
Hybrid - Some nights and weekends may be required.
