Overview
The Data Entry Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date information within the organization's databases and systems. This position is essential for ensuring that the company has reliable data for decision-making and operational purposes.
Key responsibilities
- Enter data into various databases and software systems accurately and efficiently.
- Verify the accuracy of data input and correct any errors.
- Organize and maintain files and records for efficient data management.
- Generate reports, store completed work in designated locations, and perform backup operations.
- Review and update existing data in databases using appropriate validation methods.
- Compile, verify, and sort information to prepare source data for computer entry.
- Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested.
- Respond to inquiries regarding data and information.
- Ensure all data is kept confidential and comply with security policies.
- Scan documents and print files when needed.
- Assist with data validation and cleansing activities.
- Perform regular data quality checks.
- Collaborate with team members to effectively complete tasks and meet deadlines.
- Report any data issues to management.
- Contribute to process improvements for data entry and management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in relevant field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a data entry specialist or similar role.
- Proficient in using data entry software and tools.
- Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.).
- Fast typing skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accuracy while meeting deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of data confidentiality principles is crucial.
- Experience with administrative procedures and basic accounting principles.
- Knowledge of medical and/or legal terminology is a plus.
- Familiarity with statistical software is an advantage.
- Experience with data cleansing and validation is preferred.
