RICHARD TAITTINGER GALLERY, a pioneer LES contemporary art gallery at 154 Ludlow Street, representing mid-career and upcoming artists with international recognition, is seeking a dynamic Part-Time Gallery Assistant and Art Handler to join its gallery team. As the first point of contact with the Gallery’s public and visitors, the ideal candidate should have an outgoing and positive demeanor, strong ability to prioritize, professional poise, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities (Gallery Assistant):

Duties include but are not limited to:

-Assisting with gallery tasks and errands, supporting collection management and rotating exhibitions

-Assisting with private events and rentals

-Providing support for Registrar with collector and visitor inquiries, collections management and artist support

-Assist with website management and social media content

-Creating checklists, artwork labels, and catalogues

Responsibilities (Art Handler):

Duties include but are not limited to:

-Assist in installation, de-installation and preparation of shipments

-Assist with maintenance of gallery upkeep and appearance

Qualifications:

-Undergraduate/ graduate degree or minimum 2 years of experience in gallery setting

-Excellent written and verbal communication

-Flexibility, attention to detail, and a desire to learn

-Reliable and efficient

-Proficient in WordPress, Microsoft Suite, Mac platform with CS Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), Illustrator

-Knowledge of contemporary art and art market

Position Type:

-9am-6pm Monday through Friday

-2-3 days per week, 8 hr/day

-100% in person at our gallery
