Salary: $71,431/year

Location: Position is based in NYC and will require regular travel within parts of New York State.

Summary of the Position

This is a contract-funded position for a new rapid-response initiative that the NYIC is undertaking to support vulnerable migrants and asylum-seekers throughout New York State. This position will be for one year (August 2023-August 2024) with the potential to extend for one more year, for a total of two years. The continuation of this position beyond two years is contingent upon available funding.

The Data Analyst will play a key role in ensuring the relevance, accuracy, and integrity of programmatic data to support Welcoming NY grant work. This position involves creating and maintaining efficient data pipelines, streamlining and improving existing data management systems, and ensuring timely and accurate data entry from regrantees and other stakeholders. The Data Analyst will also be responsible for analyzing and, when necessary, visualizing programmatic data to inform the triage of client needs and provide accurate, comprehensive reporting. This work will be essential to shaping the organization's strategy for service provision as well as demonstrating programmatic progress and results.

The NYIC Data Analyst will report to the Director of Statewide Coordination and will work very closely with both the members of the Policy & Programs Department and external Salesforce consultants.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

Manage priority population master data sets for different regions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and validity of all data entries.
Perform regular, comprehensive data analysis to inform service provision strategies and ensure accurate, timely reporting.
Regularly produce data digests to capture population shifts, monitor service provision progress, and highlight key insights for stakeholders.
Merge and compare data provided by regrantees or other stakeholders, ensuring consistency and resolving discrepancies.
Generate subsets of data based on predefined criteria for internal and external reporting purposes.
If requested, travel to programming regions to assist with data collection, validation, or confirmation activities.

Other Responsibilities Include

Develop standards of operation when handling and archiving data.
Designing, developing, and modifying data infrastructure to accelerate the processes of data analysis and reporting.
Review presentations, graphs, and tables to ensure accuracy and quality.
Oversee the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures.
Assess system performance and make recommendations for hardware, software, and data storage improvements.
Ensure data and information security by working with IT managed services consultants and Salesforce consultants to integrate and uphold digital security systems.
Determine limitations in data reliability and usability.

Qualifications

Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, with experience in creating complex formulas, integrating custom scripts, developing custom functions, and cross-referencing spreadsheets.
Knowledge of fuzzy matching techniques for comparing and merging inconsistent or incomplete data sets.
Strong working knowledge of Salesforce, including experience with report generation, managing custom objects, and performing data import/export functions.
Excellent computer skills, with a strong command of cloud-based tools and platforms.
Good knowledge of Dropbox, Google Suite, and Office 365 for effective document management, collaboration, and workflow optimization.
Ability to effectively use ChatGPT or similar AI tools for data management, analysis, and automation.
Strong willingness to learn and continuously improve data management software, systems, and techniques to stay current with evolving technologies and best practices.
Proven experience in maintaining data integrity and ensuring accuracy in data entry and reporting across various platforms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality data management practices.
Occasionally carries or moves materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

Important Facts To Know About This Opportunity

This position will involve extensive in-person work in the field; when not in the field the position may allow for 1 remote day and any remaining days in the NYC office.
The NYIC has a staff-wide Covid-19 vaccine mandate. Staff must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination to HR before being onboarded.

Salary: $71,431**
