Aurora Lampworks, a Brooklyn-based lighting studio specializing in the restoration, replication, and custom fabrication of lighting fixtures, is seeking experienced metalsmiths to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the silver soldering of brass, mig and tig welding, and brushed finishes. This position is project specific (6-8 months) with a potential for it to become permanent.

Responsibilities:

Fabricate jigs for lighting fixtures. Processes used to make the jigs include cutting, tapping, and assembling ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Layout, assemble and silver solder brass fixture frames together using jigs. Clean silver solder joints and prepare a satin finish on the brass frames.
Maintain tools and the shop area, organize stock and materials.
Contribute to the overall precision and quality of restoration and finishing processes.

Required Skills and Experience:

Proven experience in assembly, fabrication and finish work, especially brass and bronze metals.
Ability to work with attention to detail and maintain high-quality standards
Ability to occasionally lift and maneuver up to 50lbs.
