bitforms seeks a Gallery Assistant with a focus on digital coordination and daily administrative support.

This role requires the ability to closely and independently follow roster-related and industry news, manage the gallery’s digital presence, and work closely with a small team. The ideal candidate presents digital fluency and archival expertise.

Responsibilities

Manage Instagram and X accounts, updating and maintaining videos on Vimeo
Resize and archive all artwork and installation images and video documentation
Update and maintains artist CVs
Format and archive press materials related to gallery artists and fulfill gallery press requests from third parties
Manage Mailchimp contacts and campaigns (writing not required); update and maintain contacts in gallery database (ArtLogic)
Assist in updating and maintaining artwork information in ArtLogic; generate sales and exhibition-related materials from ArtLogic as needed
Assist in daily operations including opening and closing the gallery, greeting visitors, answering the phone, maintaining tidiness, etc
Assist in artist liaison management, including monthly meetings with selected artists, and update staff about upcoming exhibitions + projects
Updating of website (wordpress)

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Minimum three years administrative experience in related field
Confidence navigating new digital platforms
Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and InDesign), Google Suite, Social Media, and Zoom
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Superb attention to detail and organizational skills including data entry
Ability to work and communicate with a small team
Knowledge of contemporary art, especially artists engaged with technology
Knowledge of ArtLogic preferred
Familiarity with Wordpress and MailChimp preferred

The role is Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-6pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-6pm. Some scheduling flexibility is needed for openings, art fairs, and events. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Health insurance is available after three months.
