Gallery Administrator/Graphic Designer

A Manhattan art dealer is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Gallery Administrator with strong Graphic Design skills to join our team. The Gallery Administrator will be responsible for various tasks related to preparing for exhibitions, art fairs, and opening receptions. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operations and efficient execution of gallery activities in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities:

Designing promotional materials for the gallery, such as digital catalogues, posters, and digital invitations
Managing social media analytics and posts
Assisting professional photographers with in-house photo shoots
Handling color correction and image processing in a timely matter
Maintaining the digital art database and website
Assisting in the process of meticulously unpacking and assessing the condition of large and small art deliveries under the supervision of the registrar
Assisting with storeroom organization, including moving and arranging boxed artworks
Supporting day-to-day tasks assigned by the director or owner.

Required qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree is required, along with 3-4 years of experience in a professional environment. Experience in a gallery or museum is preferred
Proficiency in advanced Photoshop, Lightroom, and InDesign skills is necessary
Familiarity with Mac computers and experience in art database management and digital databases are required
Effective and efficient management of multiple tasks with attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to changes in priorities are necessary
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to assist other staff members on various projects
Ability to safely lift and move artworks of varying weights and stand for extended periods
Interest, knowledge, or passion for Asian art is beneficial
Japanese language skills are a plus

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 10 am – 6:30 pm, with occasional evening and weekend work required for exhibitions and art fairs. Salary is commensurate with experience, and benefits are offered.
