This is a Commissioning Engineer position located in Pascagoula, MS.
Role Overview: The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for coordinating and implementing the testing of all vessel equipment and systems, including sea trials, to ensure compliance with contract requirements. This role involves supervising and managing all field service activities and ensuring that the vessel's design meets customer, contract, and regulatory requirements.Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Testing and Sea Trials: Conducts and completes all testing and sea trials before customer acceptance. Responds to inquiries from customers and regulatory bodies concerning vessel testing. Technical Support and Issue Resolution: Provides technical advice and assistance to management, owners, and yard personnel, discussing and resolving issues related to vessel equipment and systems. Design Support: Ensures that the overall design of the vessel meets customer, contract, and regulatory requirements, supporting the delivery process. Project Planning: Plans and progresses all design, installation, testing, and commissioning activities for specific programs, including communication with team members. Test Program Development: Develops test programs and resource requirements, including management and control of tests and trials, risk assessments, and safe systems of work. Documentation Management: Establishes and manages design documentation, cable schedules, and drawing controls as required. Risk Assessment: Works with production leadership and environmental, health & safety staff to perform risk assessments and method statements related to testing and commissioning the vessel. Project Feasibility and Problem Resolution: Plans, organizes, and directs activities concerning projects, particularly regarding feasibility and potential issues during the conversion process, ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and classification regulations.
Stakeholder Coordination: Confers with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and project issues.Desired Knowledge,
Skills & Abilities: Engineering Expertise: Strong background in engineering design, commissioning, and/or testing, with experience in system integration and working on multi-discipline projects and integrated control schemes. Leadership and Management: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to facilitate and resolve conflicts effectively. Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively. Self-motivation: Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
Education: Completion of four years of college-level coursework equivalent to a B.S. in Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience: 8 years of experience in testing and trial duties combined with some supervisory experience.
Additional Qualifications: Holding a USCG Unlimited Engineering License is a plus.
