APPLICATION DEADLINE: November 22, 2024
START DATE: January 7, 2025
POSITION TITLE: Gallery Administrator
SALARY: $20 - $30/hour
ABOUT DAVID KRUT PROJECTS
David Krut Projects Artspace, New York works closely with an arts resource in Johannesburg which has a printmaking workshop, bookstore, gallery and is also credited as the first publisher of artists books in South Africa. It focuses on collaborations and training for long term careers in the arts and literature. The space in New York provides a platform for established and emerging young artists from South Africa as well as collaborating with American artists, publishers and workshops.
David Krut Projects Artspace, New York was established in September 2001 in the West Chelsea Building. The space opened attached to a printmaking workshop where David Krut was able to continue his collaboration with William Kentridge, which now spans 30 years. The gallery has proved to be a great launchpad for emerging artists and hosted the first New York exhibitions for William Kentridge, El Anatsui, Aida Muluneh, and Santu Mofokeng.
While continuing to work with established names, David Krut Projects is equally committed to discovering new South African artists with fresh visions and ideas, who often need stronger support to gain recognition beyond the African continent. To this aim, the gallery’s most recent program is the ongoing initiative: “South African Artists in New York.” Several extraordinary artists and artworks will be showcased in 2024, with more to come to the gallery and for the inaugural Brooklyn Fine Art Print Fair in Spring 2025.
