Infrastructure Manager
We are seeking a hands-on Infrastructure Manager to join the bunny.net team. In this role, will help us in scaling and managing a network comprising of thousands of servers, powering over a million websites that deliver traffic on a terabit level scale. You will lead the team responsible for managing and planning new network expansion all while optimizing the existing network to maximize performance and efficiency. This isn't a role where you will be deploying virtual machines to a cloud platform in your day-to-day, this is a role where you will be helping build and run a bare metal, hyper-scale platform serving traffic for millions of websites globally. You will work closely with teams in other departments, including product management, sales and support, to build innovative products that meet our customers' needs. Our ideal candidate is a technical expert with strong leadership abilities and a proven track record of successfully managing engineering teams and delivering infrastructure projects on a global level.
What will you do?
• Lead the Team: Manage and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Oversee Infrastructure Operations: Manage and maintain our Linux-based systems, ensuring high availability and performance of all infrastructure components.
• Lead Automation Initiatives: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools (using Python, Perl, Lua, Bash, Ansible) to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
• Ensure Network Reliability: Maintain and troubleshoot network services, including NGINX, HTTP, DNS, TLS, and utilize network debugging tools (MTR, TCPDump, Traceroutes) to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Manage Storage Solutions: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of data storage solutions, including RAID (mdraid).
• Monitor and Optimize Systems: Utilize monitoring software (Grafana, NodePing) to track system performance, identify issues, and optimize infrastructure.
• Support Remote Management: Ensure effective use of remote management software (IPMI/KVM) for managing and troubleshooting infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with other departments, Engineering teams, developers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for ongoing projects and initiatives.
What will you add?
• Industry Experience: Solid experience in CDN, Streaming, Storage Systems, DNS, or Security is a huge plus but not a deal breaker.
• Server Operations: Proficient in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware and software. Experience with various server operating systems but Linux is non-negotiable.
• Networking: Deep understanding of network architecture, design, and implementation. Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network monitoring tools. Knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and BGP.
• Storage Solutions: Expertise in storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and DAS. Familiarity with storage provisioning, backup and recovery solutions, and data replication techniques.
• Data Center Infrastructure: Knowledge of data center environmental controls (HVAC, CRAC units), power distribution (PDUs, UPS, generators), and cabling standards. Experience with hot/cold aisle containment and other cooling strategies.
• Security: Strong understanding of physical and cybersecurity principles. Experience implementing access control systems, surveillance, fire suppression systems, and cybersecurity measures (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems).
• Compliance and Standards: Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards including ISO 27001. Experience ensuring compliance through policies, procedures, and regular audits.
• Monitoring and Management Tools: Proficient in using Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software, network monitoring tools, and other management platforms to ensure optimal data center performance and uptime.
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Experience developing and implementing disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies to ensure data center resilience.
• Automation and Scripting: Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python) to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
• Vendor Management: Experience working with vendors for procurement, service agreements, and troubleshooting. Ability to evaluate and manage vendor performance.
