Applicants must provide a resume and a cover letter addressing 1) experience with maintenance and service repair work on institutional/commercial building heating (steam & hot water), ventilating, air conditioning, chillers, refrigeration systems and/or HVAC control systems. 2) the projects you have worked on over the past 5 years including approximate dates and your role in the project; and 3) your trades license number(s).
A criminal background check will be completed on final candidates. It will also require you and your most recent employer to answer questions regarding sexual violence and sexual harassment. The selected candidate must be able to pass a post-offer employment test and hold a valid driver’s license to obtain Wisconsin certification to drive University vehicles. A six-month probationary period is required.

Position Summary
Install, remodel, maintain and repair systems for heating/cooling water hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and steam systems within power houses, distribution systems and buildings to ensure adequate, safe, and operable institutional facilities.
Responsibilities
-
Installs, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration ( HVACR ) systems, equipment, and controls.

Performs skilled steamfitter work according to established trade standards and applicable building and safety codes.

Maintains electric, electronic, or pneumatic controls for refrigeration equipment.

Interprets blueprints and drawings to assess and verify specifications and to calculate the materials and equipment required.

Gathers materials, prepares work area, and maintains equipment and supplies needed for jobs.

Reviews finished projects with client/customer. Maintains records and reports of work status and completion according to established deadlines and expectations.

Cleans work area upon completion of projects according to established guidelines and expectations.

Collaborates with and assists contractors as needed.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Required:
-
Formal recognition by appropriate trade organization of journeyman Steamfitter status in the State of Wisconsin.

Must possess and maintain an applicable refrigeration license or be able to obtain this license within 6 months of start date.

Demonstrate skills in diagnosing and repairing steam/hot water heating systems, ventilation, air conditioning, chillers, refrigeration systems, and direct digital controls.

Evidence of strong customer skills.

Maintain a valid driver’s license that permits Wisconsin certification to drive University vehicles
-
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights up to 50 lbs.

Ability to utilize a computer for Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Excel, and Word
-
Successful completion of a post-offer employment test.
Preferred:

Experience working in an educational environment.

Experience with Johnson Controls Metasys control system software.
