Job Description
This position conducts public water supply regulatory oversight and enforcement activities for standard noncommunity water supplies in accordance with the statutes and administrative rules of the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act, 1976 PA 399, as amended. The position is responsible for overseeing and supporting county-level regulatory activities for standard local health departments (LHD). This position is responsible for evaluating the contractual performance of standard LHDs, who are responsible for the direct implementation of this and other environmental health programs on behalf of the State of Michigan. This position routinely communicates with LHD personnel, owners and operators of noncommunity drinking water supplies, water well drilling contractors, water treatment consultants, certified water system operators, industry representatives, and other regulatory personnel of the state.

The work location for this position will be either the Bay City, Warren, or Lansing District Office, depending on the selected candidate. However, the selected candidatemaybe eligible for a hybrid work schedule (combination of remote and in-person)ora fully remote work schedule (with occasional travel to their official work location). Employees approved for schedules that include remote work must complete that work within Michigan.Relocation expenses are not reimbursed. When working remote, employees must use a designated workspace that is safe and professionally appropriate, allows for privacy, minimizes distractions, and includes secure internet access. Details regarding work location and schedule options for this position may be discussed during the interview process.
Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, engineering, physical sciences, resource development, or resource management.
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: biochemistry, biology, botany, chemistry, crop and soil science, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, forest management, geology, ecology, meteorology, microbiology, physics, remote sensing, resource development, resource management, toxicology, or zoology.
