TITLE:
Area Program Coordinator - Hourly/Nonexempt,
Albia, IA
REPORTS TO:
Reports to: Nutrition Supervisor
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Overall responsibility for the operation of multiple designated nutrition center(s): May include oversight of at least two cooking kitchens (or at least three nutrition centers or serving areas) and supervision of at least three staff (may include a volunteer nutrition center manager) and at least production of 100 meals per day from all cooking centers; or may include supervision of multiple counties, non-cooking nutrition centers of 10 or more.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
- Ensure that policies and procedures for Nutrition program are followed within each assigned nutrition center.
- Responsible for all aspects of managing, coordination, and supervision of assigned nutrition centers, serving areas and cooking kitchen(s) as applicable; scheduling and filling-in as needed.
- Complete recommendations for hire, status change, personnel reviews, and termination of all staff under their supervision, and submit all supporting documentation.
- Oversee effective recruitment, training, and managing of volunteers.
- Monitor kitchen and/or other staff labor hours, offering input to improve efficiency.
- Prepare (and/or assist) in-services and training and holds regular meetings for supervised staff.
- See that all paperwork is accurate and timely, including Time Trak information.
- Assist in semi-annual evaluations on nutrition centers.
- Become knowledgeable of Milestones programs to provide basic information and assistance, as well as referrals.
- Promote nutrition centers; encourage outreach and plan approved activities of interest to seniors. This includes sharing current MAAA program information and assuring that Nutrition Education and Health Promotion activities are made available monthly.
- Schedule transportation services within county, if applicable.
- Participate in at least one MAAA promotional event annually.
- May be required to attend meetings of local entities, representing Milestones as an ex-officio member. May present approved reports.
REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES FOR POSITION:
- AA in job related field and 1 year supervisor experience.
- Experience in food purchasing, preparation and planning for large quantities preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience working with the needs of elderly preferred.
- Customer service, hospitality, and/or public speaking experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working with volunteers including recruitment helpful.
- Current Serve Safe Certification or within 6 months of hire at least once upon employment. Certification must be maintained if work site does not have a head cook on site.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work without close supervision.
- Strong supervisory skills and detail focused organizational habits required.
- Must be a good communicator and work well with all AAA staff and other non-agency service providers in the network.
- Must have word processing and spreadsheet experience, preferably Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to lift Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on your own or 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Must have valid drivers license, auto insurance, access to reliable transportation, and ability to travel as job requires.
SCHEDULE:
Full-Time: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 2:00pm (25 hours/week)
SALARY:
$12.72 - $22.28 per hour depending on
