Summary:
Meta is seeking Research Scientists to join its Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) organization, focused on making significant advances in AI. We publish groundbreaking papers and release frameworks/libraries that are widely used in the open-source community. Recent examples include the LLaMa family of Large Language Models (LLMs), new multimodal LM architectures, and new methods for alignment and reasoning in social settings. We also collaborate with the Meta Generative AI and other organizations to bring the latest research findings to production.We are currently seeking talented researchers with experience in NLP to work with us on extending the capabilities of multimodal (vision+language) modeling and/or social reasoning. Researchers will drive impact by: (1) publishing state-of-the-art research papers, (2) open sourcing high quality code and reproducible results for the community, and (3) bringing the latest research to Meta products for connecting billions of users. You will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners, and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and research facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in the field of NLP and or Machine Learning.
First-author publications at peer-reviewed NLP conferences (e.g. *ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).
Experience in training, fine-tuning, and/or experimenting with foundation models beyond black-box use.
Familiarity with one or more deep learning frameworks (e.g. pytorch, tensorflow, …)
Experience with communicating complex research for a public audiences of peers.
Knowledge in a programming language.

1+ years of experience holding an industry, faculty, or government researcher position.
Experience in developing and debugging beyond ML experimentation.
Experience in working in an industry research environment.
Experience in coordinating the research of PhD students or other researchers.
Experience in first person egocentric video, joint video language learning, LLMs or HCI.
Public Compensation:
$117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
