Lévy Gorvy Dayan is seeking a Gallery Assistant to provide efficient and effective support to all members of the gallery staff while seated at and managing the reception desk. Candidates must be personable, motivated, punctual, prompt, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. This position has a Tuesday-Saturday schedule and requires in-person attendance.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets visitors with warmth and professionalism, memorizing names and faces in order to recognize clients immediately;
- Shares knowledge of the gallery with visitors, including its programs and artists;
- Fields client calls and visits, informing Sales Directors of arrivals into Gallery;
- Records notable visitors on Platform;
- Checks info mailbox daily: directs messages to appropriate staff members, and responds to inquiries whenever possible;
- Directs incoming and outgoing packages at NY gallery sites;
- Ensures coverage on all floors (Sales and Security Guards, if needed);
- Ensures gallery is exhibition-ready upon start of day;
- Handles all supply orders (Fresh Direct, printing supplies, etc.);
- Maintains sign-in books and tracks daily visitor count;
- Manages flow of visitors during exhibitions, and maintains group tour calendar;
- Available for all gallery special events: check-in guests, direct them as required through gallery, handle coat check, etc.;
- Researches and corrects addresses for all returned mail on Platform;
- Manages inventory of gallery publications and orders new books from storage when necessary;
- Sorts and distributes general mail;
- Updates Events calendar;
- Trains and oversees interns, as needed;
- Assists Sales team with projects, as needed, such as compiling sales PDFs, client correspondence, and artwork research.
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with artists/artist estates, vendors, and clients;
- Detail-oriented and capable of prioritizing and executing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
- Fast learner with excellent memory skills;
- Elegant phone etiquette;

- Excellent interpersonal skills with clients, colleagues, and artists/artist estates;

PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree, Art History, preferred;
- 2+ years of comparable work experience;
- Computer skills: MS Office Suite, Google workspace, Adobe Suite;
- Tech savvy a must;
- After-hours and weekend work required to complete projects and assist as needed;
- Immediate availability.
