Type Of Work: Hybrid (This remote position works a 40-hour work week, generally Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm. However, candidates must be located in New York’s five boroughs for easy access to New York City for weekly in-person meetings and programs. There will also be required travel for conferences, approximately 10% - 15% of working time.)

The Deputy Director occupies a critical leadership role in Museum Hue. Working closely with the Executive Director, they will oversee operations, programs, communications, budgets, and administrative management, including strong skills of applying programmatic evaluation methods, implementing strategic objectives, as well as organizational initiatives. They will work collaboratively and actively to identify and increase efficiencies within the institution’s workflow on a continual basis.
They will assist in efforts to expand organizational capacity and work with Museum Hue’s Executive Director on the overall budgeting structure (tracking departmental budgets and keeping them up to date), board presentations, membership activities, building the MHue team based on organizational needs and other pertinent items. This position models effective management skills for all supervised staff.
GOAL: As a key member of Museum Hue’s senior management team and trusted partner to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director oversees the day-to-day administration of the organization and ensures Museum Hue has the systems and resources needed to implement the organization’s mission, strategic plan, and vision.
Overview:
Internal: Work most closely with the Executive Director and the growing team. Manages both the Project Manager and Program Manager. Supports the entire staff regarding HR, IT, finance, and administrative needs.
External: Represent Museum Hue at conferences and events as necessary. Work with external partners and vendors, such as the health insurance benefit provider, etc.
Operations and Team Management (50%):
- Provide ongoing support and assessment of feasible plans and timeline for
- organizational development.
- Assist in the creation of plans and timelines to execute organizational strategies.
- Creates and oversees annual work plan goals for operations activities with Finance Consultants (HR, finance, and administration), ensuring execution and documentation.
- Serves as a trusted partner to the Executive Director.
- Serves as the direct report to the management team.
Human Resources (20%):
- Oversees all HR services, including; staff onboarding, benefits, staff development, performance management, regulatory compliance, documentation, etc.
- Assist in developing and administering personnel policies and procedures.
Information Technology (15%):
- Oversees technology infrastructure and coordinates integration of systems.
- Ensures efficient and effective management of technology platforms.
- Assesses current platforms and recommends processes for improvements as needed.
Development (15%):
- Review and edit proposals, reports & required supplemental materials. Assistance from a Development Consultant will be provided when necessary.
- Assist in quarterly assessments, and review any and all actual to goal grant reporting.
- Assist in creating membership rates, also long term strategic plans for membership.
- Project event expenses and income & create event budget
Education:
Requirements: Master's degree in Non-Profit Arts Administration, Philanthropy, Art History, Marketing, Communications, related field work, or relevant experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Deep understanding and working knowledge of how nonprofits function, including: human resources principles and practices, technology systems, financial management, compliance and regulations, etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of strategic planning and execution, organizational development, and staff management.
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM/AMS database (i.e. Salesforce), LMS platform, etc.
