The Position:

The Senior Coordinator, Education acts as the primary administrative support for the Education Department across all program areas—including public, university, school, family, and access programs—and is an integral member of the Education team. They also manage the Museum’s Adult Tour Program which includes supervising the docents and per diem educators who conduct virtual and in-person tours for adult groups. The successful candidate is highly organized, adept at multi-tasking, diplomatic, and able to manage and work with people of diverse backgrounds and skills.

Administrative Responsibilities Include:

Work with program heads in the Education Department to develop, monitor, and maintain all budgets, including expenditures, reconciliation, and contract management.
Serve as a liaison to the Finance Department
Assist with the preparation of annual reports which includes compiling statistics and program highlights
Liaise with Security/Operations team on logistics for special events and programs
Provide administrative support for the Deputy Director, Education & Programs
Coordinate meetings, including scheduling guest speakers and cross-departmental meetings
Maintaining departmental documents, including shared logins, and reconciling the monthly departmental expenses
Update Education Department program information on the Museum’s website.

Program Responsibilities Include:

Coordinate the Museum’s long-standing Docent Program in collaboration with the Deputy Director, Education & Programs including organizing training sessions, scheduling weekly drop-in tours, and booked group tours
Coordinate the activities of the Museum’s core group of per diem educators who conduct tours for adult audiences including assisting with the hiring, onboarding, and training of new educators along with serving as the main point of contact for scheduling tours.
Organize research materials, including audio recordings of trainings and tours, for Docents and per diem Educators on Jewish Museum exhibitions and collection objects

Requirements:

BA in Art History, Education, or related field, or BFA in Studio Art required
MA in Art History, Museum Education, or MFA in Studio Art preferred
Must be detail oriented, organized, enthusiastic about working collaboratively, and have excellent writing skills
General computer skills, including MS Office Suite
Experience conducting gallery talks preferred
Willingness to learn new skills and grow in the position
